The Western Province Open is the final opportunity to earn points towards earning the rights to the coveted SA National Circuit Crown. One can only describe the event as a moerse jol and one of those competitions not to be missed. It will be surfed at Yo-Yos in the town of Lamberts Bay. The wave is jacked over a reef onto a sand bottom and creates the most fantastic A-Frame imaginable. High scoring surfing can be done on lefts and rights providing surfers the ability to score to their preferences and strengths. The competition is also a social highlight of the year with many families joining in at the braai on Saturday night. This combined with Surf movies, tall, drink infused surf stories, music and dancing creates a memorable event not to be missed.

Bring along any non-perishable food, clothes and any other white elephants.  Contributions to be distributed to the local community.

The Western Province team showed up in their masses (since they were by far the biggest team) at the SA Champs at Happy Wanderers in KZN.  Even three days of competition, many broken boards and paddles and having to move one day of the competition to Addington beach, did not dampen their spirits.

Western Province won 4 age divisions with 20 medal from 14 riders.  The extra effort put into the novices and junior paid off with Jethro taking the Junior Men and Saskia conquering the Junior Ladies.   Sean took gold in the Novice Open Division, Courtney in the Women's open and Mike took two gold medals in the Masters as well as the Men's Open Division.
